Anastrozole (Arimidex®) is used in the treatment of estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer. It is a member of the selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs).
Anastrozole is a member of the aromatase inhibitor class of drugs, which lowers estrogen levels in the body. This can reduce the risk of developing hormone-sensitive breast cancer. It can be used in combination with anandamide (exertion), diethylstilbiestrol (DES), or astemizole (exertion) for individuals who are at high risk of developing breast cancer.

Anastrozole may be used alone or in combination with other therapies to treat hormone-receptor-positive or hormone receptor-positive breast cancer.
The drug is available in the dosage strength of anastrozole 10 mg and anastrozole 5 mg tablets. Anastrozole 5 mg tablets should be swallowed whole with a full glass of water.
